Brain is the control center of body. In all vertebrates and most invertebrate animals brain is the center of the nervous system. It is usually located in the head. In vertebrates, it is the most complex organ of the body. It controls our thoughts, memory, speech and movement. It also controls the proper functioning of other organs.  When the brain is healthy it works very fast and automatically. But when some problem occurs in the brain, the result can be so much devastating that you cannot imagine.

There are a number of brain diseases which you may not have heard earlier. When the brain tissues are injured, it can lead to problems such as vision loss, weaknesses and paralysis. A stroke is common brain disease which you all might have heard. It is also known as “Cardiovascular Accident”. It generally occurs due to the blocking of the blood vessels or bursting of the blood vessels. Thus blood cannot reach to the brain leading to an oxygen deficit to cells of the brain. As a result brain cells die due to lack of oxygen. It is a medical emergency and can also lead to death. Alzheimer’s disease also known as Senile Dementia of the Alzheimer type or simply Alzheimer’s is a brain disorder. It is unique for every individual and currently it is not curable. Symptoms include confusion, irritability and fluctuation in mood, loss of language skills and loss of long term memory. As the time passes the body will not function properly and death will occur. Brain injuries sometimes called brain damage means degeneration of the brain cells which can cause disability. Brain injuries can occur due to certain diseases such as malaria, illnesses, shortage of oxygen and infections. Brain injuries can occur based on internal or external factor. Bipolar disorder or manic depression involves shifting of moods. A person may feel hopeless or sad and loss interest in certain activities. This can lead to problems with career, relationships.
